Feedback from Mary MacKillop Primary School, Narre Warren North.
The responses from the students was so positive. They were very eager to begin investigating the problem solving tasks and remained engaged for the entire hour. The tasks ranged in levels of difficulty which was great as it catered for differentiation and challenge where students found themselves in the learning pit and requiring ‘persistence’ to get out.
As the Mathematics Learning Leader at our school, I would highly endorse this incursion. Dion was a fantastic presenter; very engaging with staff and students, using age appropriate language to support the students’ understandings and keeping the discussion time short, sharp, succinct and effective. It was very easy to converse and co-ordinate this workshop based incursion both at the Victorian office (Sophie) and presenter (Dion) level. We are considering offering the opportunity to our Middle and Senior levels. Thank you very much for this valuable experience of building confidence and resilience in our students ………………….and staff (some discovering limitations with their spatial awareness).
